pretty much a love letter for megaupload
when I started in the fandom back in 2006, Megaupload was pretty much still in its early stages and did not have any country restrictions so I hoarded all Arashi PVs there in MQ and various random Shukudai and Mago Mago Arashi episodes from Thai blogs because resources were even scarce in LJ (yes, a_ra_shi was still starting then and arashi_on didn’t have that much content yet) in the past. fast-forward later that year, MU had country restrictions and the Philippines was included in the list where you can’t download without suffering through slots, waiting time, etc. then just in time, everyone in the Arashi fandom suddenly uploaded through mediafire and I went on to use MF’s services until 2008. on 2009, I had a college classmate who randomly bought a premium account megaupload so she could download all her Kpop stuff and lent to a number of people her account details so as to get her money’s worth with all of our downloading activities. I’ve been a premium user since 2009 to present and life has never been the same since then.
even if that former classmate of mine do not subscribe to MU anymore, I still do and I get to have all my fandom downloads in one filehost (Arashi, Jpop, Jdrama, occasional Kdrama, US/UK/European TV shows, films in all languages I can think of, football..) so now that MU has been seized, I can’t help but think how am I supposed to find a better filehost now. Arashi, Jpop and Jdramas are still available through mediafire, d-addicts and JPS tracker; US/UK/European TV shows, films and football are on filesonic/fileserve/rapidshare and private torrent trackers (because they are faster than thepiratebay). my fandoms are now divided into two ends that I can’t force to meet in a middleground other than megaupload.
my heart is broken and I am nearly in tears. megaupload was such a dear friend to me after all these years and I am completely in love with its convenience, fast download speed, even faster upload speed, and its own desktop client, Mega Manager. though it is unlikely, I still hope/wish/dream that megaupload will be back and I can enjoy its services once more. (forever butthurt at FBI now. them people taking away my happiness. D:)
